Packers vs. Cowboys Preview: Three Key Matchups and Prediction

Sunday at AT&T Stadium, the Cowboys and Packers will meet for the fifth time in the last four years. Shifting their focus to this week, the Cowboys look to avenge their playoff loss of a year ago.

Dallas suffered a tough loss on Sunday, as they failed to pull on out at home against the LA Rams.

America's Game of the Week is a rematch of the best match up of last year's playoffs.

But, another key factor for Green Bay and another reason why they might win, is the two rookies playing in the nitro package, Kevin King and Josh Jones. "It's just something that it's definitely something, I mean, it's not a revenge thing it's just something that is in the back of your mind and I guess that might be useful when it's game time". So we go out there and it's gonna be about executing.

Interestingly, last week the Cowboys were playing another team coming off a Thursday night/mini bye, and the Rams came back from an early double-digit deficit to chalk up a huge road win. First, Clay Matthews broke the Packers' all-time sack record, previously held by former Packers defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, who recorded 74.5 sacks in his nine seasons with Green Bay. QB Dak Prescott threw for three TDs, while RB Ezekiel Elliott carried the ball for 125 yards on the ground. In Week 1 Dallas got all over Eli Manning as well. "There's so many situations like this, and we send our thoughts and prayers to these victims, and unfortunately keep having to stand up here and talk about this", Rodgers said. Look for Elliott to have over 130 rushing yards and a few more receiving yards out of the backfield.

"I don't think it has anything to do with Rod", Rodgers said.

It's interesting to think about what would've happened had Favre gotten the opportunity to play for Dallas.

All eyes will be on Rodgers. That was the game that Dak Prescott established himself as the Cowboys new franchise quarterback.

With the Packers offense already being incredibly risky no team can afford to give them extra opportunities.

SPEAKING OF PATCHWORK: The Cowboys have had a shuffle of defensive players, most recently with All-Pro linebacker Sean Lee (hamstring) missing the LA game. If they continue to play the way they did during the first four weeks of the season, there's a good chance the Cowboys will be 2-3 heading into Week 7 and likely looking up at two teams ahead of them in the NFC East. But if the Cowboys are going to beat the Packers, Elliott will need a big day. My worry is on the defensive side when it comes to defending Rodgers.

Things will be insane for Dallas if they lose this one, which often means they pull it off and continue to confuse us all about who they really are. The Packers with their personnel will make you pay if you don't stay disciplined in your coverage. He was just shy of a best-ever statistical season but Packers fans will be very happy with his start to the current campaign.

Running back Ty Montgomery (broken ribs) and linebacker Ahmad Brooks (back) were limited participants and linebacker Joe Thomas missed the all-important Thursday practice, according to Friday afternoon's injury report filed by the team.
