Flying Pigskin Podcast: Cleveland Browns cure the Cincinnati Bengals losing-streak

"He is not in our locker room". This is a series where home-field advantage truly is important.

It was painfully obvious as the Browns lost their sixth consecutive meeting with the Bengals and fell to 0-4 to begin a season for the fifth time since 1999.

Remember when the Browns defeated the Bengals 24-3 on November 6, 2014, at Paul Brown Stadium? The Bengals scored their second touchdown after the turnover. But Britt had one bounce off his hands that was intercepted. "He came back to it and it worked out for us".

The Browns were bailed out by a roughing the passer penalty that would have been an interception by George Iloka early in the fourth quarter. Then again, Cleveland was a road favorite in Indianapolis in Week 3 and that did not show much predictive proclivity.

Wide receiver Sammie Coates, who has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury, is expected to practice Wednesday.

Vontaze Burfict - fresh off a three-year contract extension - returns Sunday after serving a three-game suspension. They could have used him last week in an overtime loss.

Last week, Andy Dalton had a much better day throwing the football, finishing 20 of 27 for 212 yards and two touchdowns.

Fortunately for the Bengals no points were lost as a result. The game featured several highs and lows for the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon rushed 17 times for just 29 yards in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns.

Four games into what was supposed to be a rebuilding season, the Browns are in shambles - still. He also has been sacked 11 times. Cincinnati's pass rush has gotten a boost from rookie Carl Lawson.

Offensively, the Jets are averaging 18.8 points and 323.0 total yards (192.2 in passing and 130.8 in rushing) per game. Defensively, New York is allowing 23 points and 338.5 yards per game.

A strong run defense fits nicely into (hopefully) the Bengals' first win of the 2017 season.

. Eventually Cleveland avoided the shutout by scoring one touchdown in a futile attempt to ease the pain. It wasn't enough to win anything but a participation trophy, but considering his ass performances for the first two weeks, it gave reason to hope. The longest carry was by Jeremy Hill for 13 yards. If Shelton is hobbled or out as well, Mixon might have the first 100-yard game of his young career. Rookie DeShone Kizer has thrown for 646 yards and three touchdowns, but also has seven interceptions.

Green tied for the team lead in targets but struggled to open up big plays, aside from a 25-yard catch-and-run.

PREDICTION: Marvin Lewis and Hugh Jackson are very familiar with each other after Jackson served under Lewis and mentored QB Andy Dalton.

"In the preseason I thought we were dominant in the red zone, now we've just got to turn it up a notch and understand that it's the regular season, people are going to give their best down there", said linebacker Christian Kirksey, who had eight tackles.
