Benitez: Liverpool needs miracle to win EPL

The England global is yet to start a game since a red card against Tottenham on the Premier League opening day landed him with a three-match ban.

Liverpool were held 1-1 by Newcastle at St James' Park on Sunday as Philippe Coutinho's stunning strike was cancelled out by Joselu.

The left-sided pair have played one match between them so far this season, and their knocks left Newcastle with a void to fill down that side of their set up. I know, I have been around football long enough. So far it doesn't lead to the results that we want but in a few moments you can not create bigger chances.

I fancy Newcastle to score more than just the one and, as I mentioned before, Liverpool are "due" a few goals and i think this might be the game we get them.

"I could not hear anything during the 90 minutes, I was just concentrating on the nose and [Philippe] Coutinho and Co!" said Benitez after the match.

"We have played more fluent than today but playing Monday, Thursday and today, it was important to get three points", said Wenger.

The biggest problem facing Klopp on the face of it is his side's inability to defend, shipping 11 goals already in the Premier League this season - the joint-fifth worst record in the entire division. I didn't see one more chances for Newcastle.

But which XI players deserve to make the list of the best XI based on their performances last month?

"If other teams maybe aren't doing too well, you can be there".

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dismissed criticism for his team's recent form, saying that the Merseyside club have identified their weak points and are working on solving them.

Newcastle were let off the hook after 23 minutes when Georginio Wijnaldum struck the post from close range and both Dejan Lovren and Sadio Mane squandered opportunities to score as the ball bounced around the penalty area uncontested by anyone in a black and white shirt.

Told that Klopp thought Newcastle should have lost, he turned diplomatic.

The Chilean was at the centre of most of Arsenal's best moments, producing the sort of display that shows why the club has tried so hard to keep him.
