Almost two-thirds of USA adults say they get the flu vaccine each year or plan to get one in 2017, according to a July 2017 survey by Harris Poll on behalf of CVS Pharmacy. A lot of people got sick and a lot of people were hospitalized.

The U.S. government recommends everyone 6 months of age and older gets a flu vaccine each season before flu season is in full swing.

As it takes approximately two weeks following vaccination to develop maximum protection against flu, it is important to get vaccinated early.

The influenza vaccine teaches the body to produce antibodies against the head of the virus's surface protein, hemagglutinin (HA).

Flu clinic paperwork may be printed from, on the Richland County Health Department Facebook page, or obtained the day of the mass flu shot clinic.

"The best way to protect yourself from the flu is to get your flu shot", Jessica Rigler, the branch chief for public health preparedness at the Arizona Department of Health Services, said.

The flu virus spreads through the air when people cough and sneeze without covering their nose and mouth, and because young children don't always cover their noses or mouths when coughing or sneezing, the virus can spread very quickly among them. No copay is necessary unless the patient sees a doctor.

Researchers analyzed data from the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD), a collaboration between the CDC's Immunizations Safety Office and several integrated health care organizations across the United States. Most health plans cover vaccinations and a self-pay discount is available to people without insurance coverage. "The CDC recommends if you have a history of an egg allergy and it's now worse than hives you can go ahead and take the flu vaccine". The illness peaks between December and February. More than 11,200 influenza cases were accounted for in July over the state. "It can reduce chances of getting the illness or make it less severe". Now, the medicine is efficient throughout the entire flu season.

All children from two years old (age on 31st August 2017) through to school year 4 will be offered flu vaccination this autumn. "Influenza infection during pregnancy is often much more severe for the mother and can cause hospitalization or death".
