Over at Angel Stadium on Tuesday evening, the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels will be continuing their early-week Major League Baseball series.

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge hit a home run Sunday at Yankee Stadium against the Baltimore Orioles that traveled 496 feet, the longest distance a home run has traveled since ESPN began tracking home runs in 2009. He took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning before allowing a two-run homer by Justin Smoak.

Tillman walked Judge and Holliday on eight straight balls with one out in the second.

CLEVELAND - Edwin Encarnacion had three hits, including a two-out, go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth inning, to lift Cleveland over Chicago at Progressive Field. Norris delivered two pitches out of the strike zone to Judge, who then hammered the third pitch into the stands in right-center field.

That would be Tanaka recapturing, for a good portion of the game, the form that made him the Yankees' best pitcher during the previous three seasons. He added a scorching 116-mph two-run double in the fifth inning, making him the only player in the Statcast Era with multiple hits of 116 miles per hour or more in the same game. Cameron Maybin then tied it 3-3 with a run-scoring double off reliever Tyler Clippard, his 750th career hit in the majors.

He was acquired in the trade that brought Nathan Eovaldi and Garrett Jones to NY in exchange for David Phelps and Martin Prado.

The Yankees got a welcomed performance from starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, who entered the game 0-5 with a 10.72 ERA in his last five starts. "You can't ask for anymore what these guys are doing", Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. Since May 16th, he's pitched in 5 games and has allowed only 4 runs in 32.1 IP. That one looked like it was hit by a mere mortal, however. Greg Garcia drew a walk before Fowler slammed a 3-1 pitch into the seats in right field for his ninth homer of the season. Yankees 5, Orioles 3.

3 runs, 4 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on. Dellin Betances got the final four outs for his sixth save. Tanaka went 6.2 innings, giving up four hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out eight. Last time he faced the Angels (in 2016), he gave up a run to Kole Calhoun but still got the win.

Exit velocity: OMG. Launch angle: LOL.

Oakland's Stephen Vogt had a two-run single in the top of the second inning that scored Yonder Alonso and Ryon Healy.

Question: Can the Angels pull a double upset in back to back series?

They were so impressed that Gary Sanchez mixed in a "wow" while speaking Spanish before getting his words translated and Brett Gardner wished he could hit the ball that hard.

Meyer has never faced the Yankees.

With his parents in the stands for Judge's first Major League Baseball game in his home state, the freshly-crowned AL Player of the Week heard familiar chants of "M-V-P, " usually reserved here for Mike Trout, on the disabled list due to torn ligament in his left thumb.

Aaron Judge has made the extraordinary seem routine. The 25-year old surprise slugger is leading the Triple Crown categories with a.344 average, 21 home runs and 47 RBI, along with an OPS (1.168) that is more than double the league average. The Angels selected OF Jordon "Jo" Adell in the first round of the draft, the 10th player picked overall.

The Yankees designated LHP Tommy Layne for assignment following the game and will recall RHP Domingo Germán from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Which brings us to one more point: Clearly, Judge did some incredible work to close holes in his swing and learn plate discipline in the offseason, but he still was not supposed to be the new face of the franchise when 2017 started.
