Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has called out Boston Celtics center Kelly Olynyk as a dirty player. "Coaches put scoring players in position to be successful, and that's why you've got to have your teammates help you out and it be a five-man effort instead of a one-man effort". "I mean, we're very competitive guys out there". Like I don't respect that man, he dirty.
Olynyk, immersed in the Celtics-Wizards series, found himself on the receiving end of a check from Washington forward Kelly Oubre Jr. during Game 3. Olynyk had set an illegal screen on Oubre that knocked him to the ground. He was suspended for Game 5 of last year's NBA Finals after his kick to LeBron James' groin in the closing minutes of Game 4 earned Green his fourth Flagrant Foul point. "Olynyk caught [Oubre] in the face and the neck with a couple of elbows. I don't know what that something is". You let people get away with stuff, and then when somebody finally react. you penalize that guy. Not having him for what is their most important game of the season could hurt them significantly. "I think they're really loading up, and so there's sometimes a look of two guys, sometimes a look of three guys that are all in that vicinity". Oubre said he did not reach out to apologize to Olynyk. If you do, it's what you see: a 3, a 3, a drive, a 3, a 3, a drive.
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion", added Olynyk. "I can't be allowed to be held and grabbed every pin-down, every screen and I don't even shoot one free throw". "I don't agree with [Green's] assessment". And how can we forget Game 2 on Tuesday when a clumsy Olynyk lost the ball out of bounds, taking out John Wall in the process?
Role players play better at home, which has certainly been the case through four games of this series. "We feel like we can win there; we know we can". It featured every kind of offensive and defensive play a team can make. There isn't a whole lot of evidence out there proving he's a dirty player, but he certainly has the reputation for being one. He only attempted one more shot from deep.
He disputes the perception that he's a dirty player.
"I'm not saying that was the right thing to do".
Green briefly chided Oubre for not hitting Olynyk hard enough.
"There's a difference, big difference between knowing all the tricks [and being dirty]". [Olynyk] yanked [Love's] shoulder out of place.
"This dude be out there trying to hurt people man, I don't rock with bruh like that".
