Raptors crash in Game 3 vs. Cavaliers

Toronto shot 36 per cent on wide-open threes in the first two games, making just eight of 22 such attempts.

Cleveland leads the series 2-0.

The Cavs have are now 7-0 in the postseason this year and have won 10-straight playoff games dating back to least year's NBA Finals. Going straight forward will be okay.

NOTES: The Cavaliers went 10-0 to open the playoffs in 2016 and, with their Game 3 win, are 7-0 to open the playoffs this season.

LeBron James is now only "chasing the ghost" of Michael Jordan, after surpassing a legend this week in all-time playoff points.

"I thought Cory Joseph was a bright spot Wednesday night, the confidence he played with, the force he played with, the way he shot the three ball", coach Dwane Casey said. "The way they go is the way we go". The fact that Toronto was down only two before Norman Powell converted their first three-point attempt with 3:09 remaining in the third quarter speaks to just how disinterested the Cavs played for most of this night.

"That play, throwing it off (the glass), having a beer on the sideline. all of those things should get you upset to compete, not to compete but to make it a physical contest", Casey said. Through three quarters LeBron James was not the same LeBron James that owned the court in Cleveland through those first two games but he didn't need to be, not when the Raptors couldn't find any offence other than that which DeMar DeRozan produced.

James scored 35 on 9 of 16 shooting in 41 minutes of action. Cleveland also received 18 points from Channing Frye and 14 from Iman Shumpert off the bench. James hit 15-of-16 free throws.

Without Lowry, the Raptors were simply not able to give DeRozan enough help. Regardless, he can't shoot 2-for-11 from the field and score just five points as he did in Game 2. Delon Wright's basket less than a minute into the quarter was Toronto's only field goal for nearly six minutes.

The Raptors missed the first 12 three-pointers they attempted, not seeing one go down until Norm Powell took the lid off the basket with a make on attempt No. 13 by the team.

James also became the fourth player in National Basketball Association history (Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Manu Ginobili) to make 300 play-off three-pointers.

The Cavs stretched their advantage to nine points, but the Raptors fought back and a finger roll from Ibaka tied the game three-and-a-half minutes before halftime. The Cleveland Cavaliers are shooting 42.8 percent from beyond the arc and 74.1 percent from the free throw line.

Dominating the Raptors is nothing new for James and the Cavs. Kevin Love had 13 rebounds, while Tristan Thompson added 12. This idea of masking this kind of insulting play as just the flair that the Cavs are known for only emboldens the bully. Lowry returned in the third quarter, but spent the last 12 minutes in the locker room icing the ankle.

Already a bit behind the curve after missing a month following the All-Star break then stung by a bad back, Lowry's contribution - or lack thereof - will go a long way in determining Toronto's Game 3 productivity.
