That might have been the question after Pekka Rinne waved at a fluttering puck that Jakob Silfverberg somehow snuck into the top corner five minutes into Game 1 of the Western Conference final.

Eastern Conference: (A2) Ottawa Senators vs (M2) Pittsburgh Penguins: Craig Anderson has inspired his team so far to get them to the conference finals for the first time since 2007.

After four years of agony and more than a decade of fruitless game sevens, the Ducks are finally the victors of a winner-take-all game - and they're halfway to another Stanley Cup. A win to make the series 2-0, heading back home where they've yet to lose this postseason, could turn what should be a lengthy series into a very short one.

Nashville at Anaheim, 6:30 p.m.

They'll need that mindset because the Nashville Predators have spent much of the postseason with their foot on the gas and are not willing to let up now.

2015-16: Preds defeat Ducks 4-3 in Western Conference quarterfinal.

The Predators, who stole Game 1 for the third time in three playoff series against the Ducks, said they expect Sunday to be more representative of a close series.

Rinne is now the playoff leader among goaltenders with an astounding.951 save percentage and 1.35 goals against average (GAA). He has 1 assist and is plus-4 in 10 playoff games.

Getzlaf ended a monster series without a point on his 32nd birthday, but he contributed to a stellar defensive effort against National Hockey League scoring champion Connor McDavid, who went scoreless in Game 7 and managed just five points in the series.

Nashville lost two of three to Anaheim in the regular season, one in a shootout. Several other players talked about not being 100 percent during the playoff run. Carlyle has a great feel behind the bench and his Ducks actually have the better possession numbers in the playoffs, controlling 53.6 percent of the even-strength shot attempts so far this postseason, compared with 50.3 percent by the Predators. Subban had an assist.

The victor will play for the ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup. Nashville is +300 to win the Cup.

"Our power play has been a little bit touch and go".

Neal scored 9:24 into OT, Pekka Rinne made 27 saves and the Predators kicked off their first appearance in the Western Conference finals with a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.

"I don't know whether from coaching or playing whether you get into a mental block or not", said Bruce Boudreau, who coached in Game 7 four times with the Capitals and four times with the Ducks.

Fowler played a big role in the 95-second kill after Ryan Getzlaf and Nate Thompson both took delay-of-game penalties for putting the puck over the glass. Anaheim peppered 29 shots on the Predators goalie in total, and he stopped them all but two of them to earn his ninth win of the playoffs. The offensive burden up front will fall on the No. 1 line of center Ryan Johansen and 31-goal scorers Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson, who were fairly quiet against St. Louis before combining for four points in the series-clinching victory. Eaves had 32 regular-season goals combined with Dallas and Anaheim.

NOTES: With Oilers D Andrej Sekera (undisclosed injury) out for the series, Eric Gryba was active for the second straight game. The Ducks owned up to their post-Game 7 letdown, but they also recognized that the Predators are a much tighter outfit than their previous two playoff opponents. Nashville has won nine consecutive at home in the postseason, dating back to a 3-1 win over the Ducks in Game Six of their 2016 First Round series. That loss got Coach Bruce Boudreau fired.

The Oilers had made the playoffs for the first time since 2006, and there were a lot of fans waiting for an epic moment like a playoff game hat trick. In both playoff series, the Ducks won on the back of their captain.

Five of those first-period shots came from Nashville defensemen, two apiece from Ryan Ellis and Roman Josi, and one from Yannick Weber.

The Ducks are +225 to win their second Cup. Having that extra time to rest, however, could result in some early rust against the Ducks.

Where the Predators hold the advantage is that they have had all week to prepare for a high-octane offense.

The Ducks will also have to overcome the obstacle of Game 2 taking place in less than 48 hours again.
