Along with the confirmation of the release dates, Disney has also confirmed that Steven Spielberg will direct Indiana Jones and that Harrison Ford will play the title character.
Carrie Fisher will appear in the next installment of Star Wars.
Another highly anticipated film slated for a 2019 release aside from Star Wars: Episode IX is the sequel to children's favorite Frozen. However, that is not the case as "Star Wars: Episode IX" has a different plot comparing to "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". However, the Han Solo movie is now slated for release on May 25, 2018, so this move puts it in line with that. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", which reunited the original cast of the first 1977 film, was released in December 2015, and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is due to open worldwide on Dec. 15, 2017.
Disney announced release dates for both movies Tuesday (April 25), with The Lion King coming July 19, 2019, and Frozen prepped for November 27, 2019.
Disney has been on a remake streak of their classics with their latest success from the live-action "Beauty and the Beast" hitting more than $1 billion in sales worldwide.
Other confirmed release dates include the fifth Indiana Jones movie which has been delayed by a year to July 10 2020. Both Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg are slated to return, though it's worth noting that Ford will be almost 78 years old by then. The animated sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 is slated for November 21 next year.
Still, we'll be sad to see a Star Wars-less Christmas in 2019, along with the corresponding tie-in merchandise released in December.
A new live-action The Lion King, starring Donald Glover as Simba, is expected to debut on July 19 2019, with Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen rumoured for the voices of Timon and Pumba.
